Record Store Day Black Friday

Sound City Records is proud to announce 5 amazing release coming as part of RSD Black Friday 2023!

TED NUGENT - SPIRIT OF THE WILD 2xLP (Clear Orange Vinyl)

Spirit of the Wild ranks as one of Ted Nugent's finest moments because it cuts away the filler and keeps the wildman's tendency for indulgence in check. This album marked the return of Nugent's original sound of hard rock instead of the pop metal style of his '80s solo work, as well as the brief return of vocalist Derek St. Holmes. "Spirit of the Wild" is the theme song for Ted Nugent's hunting TV show Spirit of the Wild and one of Nugents most iconic songs, "Fred Bear", a tribute to the bowman Fred Bear. This release featured two unreleased songs, "Fan The Flame" & "Guns"  from the albums recording sessions that have been released until now. NEVER RELEASED ON VINYL

STEELER - STEELER (Clear Red Vinyl)

Although many metalheads probably assume that Swedish guitar shredder Yngwie J. Malmsteen's first U.S.-based band was Alcatrazz, he was a brief member of another obscure Los Angeles-based metal band called Steeler. The group also featured future Keel frontman Ron Keel (bassist Rik Fox and drummer Mark Edwards also rounded out the band), as the quartet's music was similar to the pop/party metal that was ruling the Sunset Strip at the time. The band was one of the first to be signed to Mike Varney's Shrapnel label (one that has since become synonymous with highly technical guitar shredders), resulting in a lone self-titled release from 1983 before their breakup shortly thereafter. Although the album failed to make much noise upon release, it became a cult classic for fans after Malmsteen and Keel

MISSING PERSONS - LIVE IN NEW YORK 1981 (Clear Blue Vinyl)

Missing Persons, live at My Father's Place, Roslyn, New York on 25th August 1981. Even before Missing Persons issued their first LP, they were building a following outside of their native Los Angeles with shows outside of California.
It includes live versions of most of the songs from their 1980 debut EP and their 1982 debut album Spring Session M, more than a year before the LP entered the charts. NEVER RELEASED ON VINYL

SWEET - GIVE US A WINK ALT. MIXES & DEMOS (Clear Orange Vinyl)

Building on the momentum caused from the runaway success of Desolation Boulevard, Sweet forged ahead and shoved Give Us a Wink out to satisfy their growing legions of rabid fans. Doing it all without the aid of Chinn & Chapman, they truly held their destiny in their own hands for the very first time. "Action" gave them another Top Ten hit, and along with such other notable cuts as "Cockroach" and "Yesterday's Rain," they proved they had the goods. This all new release includes never released alternative mixes and demos from the original release.

SPARKS - LIVE AT THE RECORD PLANT 1974 (Clear Vinyl)

One of pop's best-loved and most influential cult bands, Sparks grew out of the minds of brothers Ron and Russell Mael. An 8 song studio in-concert by Sparks in L.A, in September 1974, with the Propaganda line-up of Ron & Russ Mael, Ian Hampton on bass, Dinky Diamond on drums and Trevor White on guitar.
